We'll doing a vet's day display at our church and I'd like to put the report of how Billy died with the Picture of Him. His uncle Ed Buck is a close friend of mine and would like to see the picture and report. We're making a large display in our fellowship hall for all past and present vets who we knew or know from WWII, Korea, Viet Nam, Granada, Panama,Iraq, Afghanistan.
On Saturday before Veteran's Day, the vets will be talking to young people of the church and answering questions.
Just to get the Vet's side and not only what you hear on the nightly news....
If you recall the report I'm talking about, please e-mail.

Thanks Pal,
S/F
doc Melton

Shortround,

Thank you for the new web-site and all to come. You have my support. For your consideration: I enjoy the individual profile approach as seen on the "Together We Served" web-site. It lets all members list personal information and display all of their pictures old and new in a personal way. I know nothing of the technology or cost involved but offer this as a suggestion for the new 3rd Recon site. I also invite you and all to view my TWS profile at marinestogetherweserved.com under, Sgt. Terry M. Black.

Semper Fi,

Terry

I had a really good day yesterday, and it had nothing to do with our war or today's war. I took my sons to Road Atlanta to watch the ALMS / Petit LeMans endurance race... eventually won by the Audi by one second over the second place Porsche... after 1000 miles.

Amazing! We all love racing, but the opportunity to spend a full day with my two grown men was priceless...to borrow a line from the television commercial.

My boys are adults now with lives and careers of their own, but being able to talk about anything without interruptions made it a great day. We didn't as mentioned, talk about the war, but on the way home Rob, the younger, asked me if I still think about my war. My answer was yes, I still do. Why? Because I lived and worked with some of the best men I have ever known, and because the work we did was so dangerous, you grew to appreciate every minute of every day.

Now that I've had the time to think about that fragment of our conversations, I've concluded that those of us who have been to war have an obligation to do all we can to help others to understand it. Wars have always killed, but now every war carries with it the possibility that things could go terribly, terribly wrong. Our families, our friends, our country; indeed the entire human race could be wiped out in the next war so I want those who follow me to know what war is like and that they must choose our battles carefully.

Sorry! I didn’t mean to be so serious. Semper Fi!
